We're all set for the monthly Bloomington .NET User Group meeting for
Tuesday, Nov 10, 2009 at 6 PM.   TEKSystems is sponsoring the meeting
and will provide dinner and drinks.  We've got the usual giveaways as
well.

Our speaker this month is an MVP who specializes in SharePoint
development and customization.  Darrin Bishop from the Darrin Bishop
Group, Inc.  (http://www.darrinbishopgroup.com) is going to talk about
the future of SharePoint development  and Microsoft SharePoint Server
2010.  He’ll also discuss some of the new integration features between
Visual Studio 2010 and SharePoint.  Darrin is a well recognized expert
in the SharePoint and .NET field and has presented at some of the
biggest conferences all over the world.  We look forward to learning
more about the future of .NET and SharePoint.

The monthly Bloomington, Illinois .NET User Group will be meeting at Gill Street in Bloomington for a "Geek Dinner".

Colin Blair from EKI is going to talk about Silverlight 3.0 and how it can be used to create rich business applications.   Colin is currently developing Silverlight applications for the State of Illinois and has a ton of experience with this great new technology. 

Microsoft Silverlight is a programmable web browser plugin that enables features such as animation, vector graphics and audio-video playback which characterize rich Internet applications. Version 2.0, released in October 2008, brought additional interactivity features and support for .NET languages and development tools. Microsoft made the beta of Silverlight 3.0 available on March 18, 2009. The final version is expected to arrive on July 10, 2009.

The timing and subject of our meeting can’t be more perfect with the July 10th go-live of Silverlight!!!

Dave Weeks from Microsoft will present on Visual Studio Tools for Office which enables .NET programming on the Microsoft Office platform. This presentation includes both a business and architectural view of Office Development as well as a technical view of developing applications with VSTO.
